Requested recipe: Iced Coffee

One of my favourite things to enjoy during the warmer months is Iced Coffee. Since having our Nespresso machine I've started making them from scratch as opposed to the only other way to make Ice coffee in my opinion, with Bushells Coffee & Chicory Essence which is readily available from the supermarket.
Depending on how I'm feeling either one of these is regularly enjoyed these days, by both hubby and I. Here are both simple recipes for those that have requested.

Nespresso Iced Coffee
1 shot strong Nespresso coffee (use short black setting)
2 tsp Demerara sugar or to taste
1 - 2 scoops vanilla icecream
Milk
Ice blocks


1. Prepare shot of coffee with Nespresso and stir in sugar to dissolve.
2. In tall glass place ice blocks, and scoops of icecream.
3. Pour coffee shot over icecream and top up with milk.
4. Stir and enjoy
NB - I'm definitely not a sugar in coffee girl, but do like my iced coffee to be a little sweeter - weird I know! 


Bushells Iced Coffee
2 tbs Bushell Coffee and Chicory Essence
1 - 2 scoops vanilla icecream
Milk
Iceblocks

1. In tall glass, place ice blocks and scoops of icecream.
2. Pour coffee mix over icecream and top up with milk.
3. Stir and enjoy
NB - Essence is quite sweet so I personally never add any sugar 

Tip: 
If you are planning on serving several iced coffees at one time, prepare the icecream prior by scooping into a muffin tin and placing back into the freezer. Come the time you require the icecream, you can easily retreive the scoops with tongs and place straight into glass.

  1. These look quite yum, but the sugar, ice cream and essence contain quite a lot of preservatives and it's really unhealthy! I wonder if there is a healthier way to make them? x Michelle

    Certainly isn't the most healthiest of options that's for sure, but as they say, everything in moderation.
    I worked in hospitality for around 5 years whilst I was at university and we always made the follow version for those who prefered the 'lighter' option
    - shot of coffee
    - no sugar
    - skim milk
    - low fat or no icecream
    - iceblocks
    Certainly not as 'enjoyable' in my opinion but still an 'iced coffee' of sorts

  3. Yummy!! we make ice coffee iwth the nespresso pods all the time too but I've never done the ice cream!! Why have I not done the ice cream?? LOL. Might have to do one today. thanks hun xx
