Entry Organisation

Can't believe that this blogpost has been over 6 months in the making! I decided midway through last year that I was going to makeover my Kitchen Organiser Station and here is what I came up with. Funnily enough, it does make sense sharing about it after putting it to use because I can officially say that it is really functional and it's a space that I love.
As you can see I've used an Ikea 4 cube Expedit as the base unit. I had this in one of the bedrooms and decided to repurpose it for this. I initially had it without the two drawer inserts at the bottom but found it looked quite untidy and messy with the baskets I was using. I wanted one section to be for papers; farming publications and magazines for hubby, rather than leaving them laying around he knows where to find them. The other sections is a basket to action - items to return etc. This is handy to have it near my handbag as I check the cupboard before I grab my stuff to go to the car. Much happier having all those bits and pieces hiding behind the cupboard doors!

I wanted one of the top shelves to hold my handbag to make it easily accessible and the other houses two storage boxes. The large one holds any school correspondence for our son, namely newsletters etc. Any notes to be signed etc go into a file folder in the Errands station but this is so I can easily find previous editions of newsletters with dates and things to remember. The small box is for miscellaneous items like iPhone covers; cord for car DVD player etc.

On the top of the unit is our Pottery Barn recharge station and Errands station - ala Super Organiser Mum (Jade) style. Still love both of these for keeping mobile cords tidy; housing bits and pieces including my diary; file folders of day to day documents; clipboards with menu planning and weekly planners; to do lists etc.

On the wall is another Pottery Barn purchase. I love this little unit for keeping keys (although there's none on there in the photo LOL) notepads; pens; scissors; spare change; earphones; sunglasses etc.

Certainly makes it much easier for both hubby and I, having homes for all these bits and pieces in the entry of our house, making getting out the door quicker.

Do you have an organiser station or entry hall stand where you locate these items?

  1. Love this Clare!

My hubby has a fear of drilling things in walls, I would love some shelves up like yours!

Hope you manage to convince hubby to let you put up a shelf or two ;)

  2. hey Clare, love your work. I've been drooling over the charging station for like ever! Seriously. But was wondering, how much it cost to ship out. I've searched high and low around the traps and have found nothing that rates. Now that we have an ipad, 2x iphones, 2x ipods and 3x Dsi's I'd love a place to charge away. All those cords drive me bonkers.

    1. Hi Mandy!
      Thanks so much.
I purchased the recharge station a few years back when PB starting shipping internationally. From memory the postage was around $40. I've never actually done parcel forwarding so I'm not sure if that's a cheaper option at all.
Certainly sounds like you need a recharge station with all those cords!
